Ep 348: What to do when you feel stuck in your business and aren't making progress.
Jun 11, 2026
Have you ever felt like you're spinning your wheels in your business? Like there's a roadblock, a bottleneck, something you just can't push past no matter how hard you try? Maybe there are things you know you should be doing, but you can't bring yourself to do them — and that tension is eating up your time, your energy, and your joy.
Friend, I've been there. I was just there. And in this episode, I'm sharing exactly what I walked myself through so you can use this same process the next time you hit a wall.
First, Let's Name What's Actually Happening
Here's what I want you to do before anything else: I want you to name the resistance.
What is the thing in your business right now that you feel tension around? The thing you keep putting off, the thing that makes you want to throw your laptop across the room, the thing that's sitting on your shoulders every single day whispering you should be doing this.
For me, it was video. I kept telling myself I needed to be creating more video content, doing Instagram Reels, recording clips from my podcast episodes. Every day I felt the weight of it. And every day I resisted it.
That feeling — that tension — is resistance. And here's what I need you to understand: resistance is a signal, not a character flaw. It's not telling you that you're lazy or undisciplined. It's telling you something far more important.
Step One: Remind Yourself That Your Business Gets to Be Built Your Way
Before you do anything else, I want you to close the door, take a breath, and say this out loud:
My business gets to be built my way.
And then say this: I don't have to do all the things the world is telling me I have to do to be successful.
Because you don't. There are so many voices out there — coaches, gurus, online experts — all telling you that you need to be on YouTube, on Instagram, on TikTok, doing Reels, doing email, doing all of it. And yes, I'm one of those voices. I'm an advocate for podcasting, so I'm right there in the mix. But the truth is, you have to be discerning.
When you give yourself permission to do business your way — using the gifts you actually have, building something that genuinely excites you — something shifts. Your shoulders drop. You sit up a little straighter. You start to smile. That's your body telling you you're on the right track.
Step Two: Ask Yourself — Is This Mission Critical?
Once you've named the resistance, you need to ask one question: Is this actually mission critical for my business right now?
Some things are. Your taxes need to get done. Your website does need to exist. Those things are real. But here's what I want you to hear — just because something is mission critical doesn't mean you have to be the one doing it.
There are people in this world who genuinely love the things that are draining you. My daughter Lexi works with spreadsheets all day and she loves it. Can you imagine? Someone out there loves doing the exact thing that's frustrating you right now. Find that person. Fiverr, Upwork, your local chamber of commerce, a referral from a friend — whatever it takes. Get it off your plate immediately. Because that bottleneck is costing you time, energy, and momentum.
Step Three: If It's NOT Mission Critical — Let It Go
Here's where it gets really good.
When I sat down and honestly asked myself whether video was mission critical for my business right now, the answer was no. My podcast is what's working. It's how people find me. It lights me up. It's easy and I'm good at it. And I have something new I'm working on that genuinely excites me — something that I believe is going to help so many of you.
So I gave myself permission to let the video go. Not forever. Just for right now.
And the moment I did? I felt free.
That freedom — that lightness — is what's on the other side of releasing the wrong thing. When you stop fighting a battle that was never yours to fight, you suddenly have all that energy back for the things that actually matter.
The Simple Process to Use Every Time You Feel Stuck
When resistance shows up — and it will, for every business owner at every stage — walk yourself through this:
- Name it. What is the specific thing you're resisting? Say it out loud.
- Breathe and reset. Remind yourself: My business gets to be built my way.
- Ask: Is this mission critical? Does it truly need to happen for your business to move forward?
- If yes → outsource it. Find someone who loves doing it and get help now.
- If no → release it. Give yourself full permission to let it go, at least for this season.
You're Not Stuck. You're Just Fighting the Wrong Thing.
I see so many women who are talented, gifted, and full of incredible ideas — and they're completely stalled because they're exhausted from trying to build their business the way someone else told them to. They're white-knuckling their way through things that were never right for them in the first place.
When you stop doing that, you light up. I've seen it. And I want that for you.
So today, I'm giving you permission: you don't have to do all the things. You just have to do your things. And when you figure out what those are, that's when your business starts to move.
