Can I talk to you for a minute? Not the version of you that has it all together on Instagram. The real you — the one sitting at your desk, or walking around the house, with that question running in the back of your mind: Should I do this? How am I going to do this?

Maybe you're still in the idea stage and haven't started. Maybe you're starting right now. Maybe you've been in business seven or eight years and you're feeling a shift with AI and everything changing so fast. Wherever you are, this post is different from what I normally write. Today I just want to speak some life into you.

Because I believe you're out there. And I believe you've been holding yourself back.

The Doubts You've Been Believing

You've been watching other business owners. Service providers, retail shops, online sellers, YouTubers, podcasters. They look like they're doing amazing. They're selling tons of stuff. They have a huge following, a beautiful website, gorgeous branding. And if you're honest, you feel a little... shall we say, jealous?

And somewhere along the way, you decided something. You decided maybe there's no room for you in this whole game of business. That you're too late. Too ordinary. Too behind. That AI is flying past you. That you're not special enough to be chosen — to be bought from, to be seen, to be heard.

I need you to hear this: nobody decided those things but you.

There was no committee that sat around and voted you out. This is not sorority rush, where somebody said, "Nope, she's not in." This is not Survivor, where you got voted off the island. That doubt lives in your head, and it is not real data. It's not based on numbers. It's not based on anything except your own insecurities.

It's just fear. And I'll tell you right now — fear is the worst business advisor you could ever have. You do not want fear sitting on your board of directors. But you've been letting it run the meetings, haven't you?

Yes, Everything Got Easier — for Everyone

Here's what's true about business right now. Anyone can build a website, and anyone can build a beautiful one. I'm working in Shopify right now (more on that very soon — I have something coming that I'll be announcing!), and it is blowing my mind how much easier it is than when I first switched over years ago.

Anyone can create a product. You can print shirts online. You can buy wholesale. You can make something with your hands. You can launch a course, offer a service, or start a neighborhood business that helps people. I've seen a woman in the Dallas–Fort Worth area whose whole business is beautifully styling pumpkins on people's porches every fall. A porch pumpkin lady! Everything is easier than it has ever been, for everyone.

And here's what that actually means — this is the part I don't want you to miss:

The tools stopped being the advantage.

Nobody can out-website you anymore. There are templates and simple platforms and easy ways to do almost everything. Everyone can have a beautiful website now — including you. So if the websites are equal, and the tools are equal, and the access is equal... what's left?

The Only Thing Left Is You

You. That's what's left. The only thing really separating business owners in this world is the person behind the business.

And there is no version of you sitting on the shelf next to you. You are not competing against another you. Nobody else has your story. Nobody else walked through what you've walked through. Nobody else was given the gifts by God that you've been given. Nobody else learned it the hard way like you did and came out with your exact way of seeing things, saying things, and caring about what you offer.

That combination has never existed before, and it will never exist again.

That's not a pep talk. That's just math.

She Doubted Herself Too

Now, about that woman you keep comparing yourself to — the one with the following and the beautiful brand. I want you to know something about her.

Almost every business owner I know, no matter what she sells, has doubted herself too. She just did it anyway. That's the entire difference between you and her. Not talent. Not specialness. She moved while doubting — and you've been waiting for the doubt to leave first.

It doesn't leave first, friend. It leaves later.

And while you wait, somebody out there is waiting on you. A real person — the one you've pictured serving, whether that's an adult, a child, a whole family. They need what you have, delivered the way only you can deliver it. They are not waiting for a more qualified version of you. They need you, now. And every day you stay hidden because you don't feel ready, that person stays stuck too.

Playing small isn't humility. It's keeping your gift from the person it was placed in you for. It's keeping you from the people God intended you to serve.

Take One Tiny Step Today

So here's what I want you to do. Not next month when you feel ready. Today. Right now. Take one little step out of hiding — just a tiny one:

• Post the thing you've been sitting on.
• Send the email.
• Say what you actually think.
• Look something up, or ask ChatGPT the question you've been wondering about.
• Watch a video that teaches you one piece of it.
• Text your neighbor, or reach out to someone already doing this and ask them about it.
• Show your face.

And let it be imperfect. Because imperfect and out there beats perfect and invisible every single time.

You're not too late. You're not too ordinary. You're not just somebody else in the crowd. You're just getting started — and I am so honored to be part of your journey.
